What the heck is FORGE?
As we have been spreading the word about FORGE we have gotten a lot of questions about what to expect at FORGE, so we have a series of three blog posts that shed some light on why we think this will be the greatest Labor Day of your life! Check out Part 1 here, or the general info page here.
PART 2 – JESUS
What the heck is FORGE? It will be like The Well… but for 3 days straight, with crazy fun games, at a lake. With all the fun activities we have planned, we have really been praying that this weekend will give us space to truly retreat from the busyness of life to connect meaningfully with Jesus. We will have gospel-centered preaching and worship, time to break away and get alone with God, as well as small discussion groups for us to dig even deeper into the concepts we will be covering during the preaching sessions. Here’s a brief picture of what you can look forward to.
PREACHING
Our speaker this year is Phill Kwon! You can stalk him on Facebook here. Phill is an Aggie, a DTS grad, and a pastor here at Wells Branch Community Church. Phill will be walking us through the Scriptures, preaching the gospel, and calling us to orient our lives around what matters most… Jesus. Whether you’ve been in church your whole life, or you’ve never been to church once in your life, Phill will be bringing the truth of God’s word into the reality of young adult life in order that we might see the beauty of Jesus that surpasses everything our culture tries to sell us.
WORSHIP
We are super excited to have theRESPONSE Band leading us in worship this year! This Austin-based band of young adults is passionate about connecting people to God through art and music, and calling people to respond to the gospel of Jesus with their lives. If you want to get to know them more, check out their Facebook page and feel free to reach out to them. They are young adults like us, and have a heart for seeing more and more 20- and 30-somethings give up everything to follow Jesus.
GROUPS
Everyone at FORGE will have the opportunity to process, discuss, and explore the biblical passages we are preaching through with a small group of peers. By the end of the weekend, our hope is that you will have been able to grow in your knowledge of God, your love of God, and walk away with a deeper level of community with friends and peers as well. It’s possible that you may want to continue meeting together with some of the friends from your group after FORGE, and form a discipleship group from it. We encourage that! 3-day weekends are awesome, but lifetime discipleship relationships are even better.
